"Self-discipline burns away impurities and kindles the sparks of divinity" - Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.
Today was a practice in self-discipline. We have exactly one week left here at Kranti Yoga Teacher Training; only four days until our written exams, our pranayama assessment and my peer teaching assessment. It was time to buckle down and tackle my to-do list. Some of the girls went on a dolphin watching tour early this morning and I opted not to go due to the work I set my intention on, my massage, and the fact that I didn't bring any gravol with me.
I started out my morning having a glorious 1.5 hour chat via Facebook phoning with my hubby, who was at our friend's Alex and Sara's cabin. I actually felt like I was home having a chat with our friends. It filled my soul. It was a great way to start my day. I then had a massage with Sadhi so I made my way down the beach to their little hut. All oiled up in coconut oil with ayurvedic medicines I walked back to Kranti on the beach taking in the ocean air and soaking in every morsel as it will all no longer be my reality in a short time.
I ate my breakfast leisurely and got all my books, water and hot ginger tea and settled in on my porch to get er done. I sat there with a few short breaks to eat lunch and stretch my wrists from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. I finished all the revisions of my notes that I had wanted to do, and then went to work in my cabin pretending to deliver my sequence to my peers. At one point I saw "new" Laura glancing in as the curtain was blowing in through my open doors likely wondering why I was pacing back and forth in my room. lol.
Bex and I went through our sequences together, although hers was cut short by the downpour of rain, which only lasted a very short while, but gloriously took the humidity out of the air. It always feels so clean after it rains.
We had some dinner and a chai masala, and some of the group headed over to Temple for service with Upendra. I decided I would wait until next Sunday to go again as I was sweaty and sticky from practicing sequences and didn't feel like soaking another set of clothes. I did go to the Temple to take a few photos and video from outside the door. I just love listening to them sing and watching the passion and joy in their faces. I had just turned to leave and one of the men came out and invited me to come in for chai and a snack (their "intermission") and I said I didn't have a shawl, so he said, "I'll bring to you". Bless . . . these people are just the most incredible human beings ever! I LOVE INDIA. Satara noticed me standing outside and offered to give me her shawl . . . I wasn't thinking about the fact that I was also in shorts and needed to have my legs covered, and luckily Cristina came to the entrance and reminded me . . . exhaustion of my day . . . I would have felt awful walking in inappropriately dressed. Next Sunday I will be attending Temple for the full experience again.
It was Danielle's birthday today and the cooks baked her a cake - so sweet.
So ZERO beach time on my day off, no journey to Palolem for a much desired iced coffee . . . instead my self-discipline and commitment to my to-do list made it completely possible to get everything done today that I wanted to. I feel fulfilled and have a sense of peace as I prepare for my final week.
I can't wait to come home and deliver my sequence to my family and friends. I also look forward to possibly sharing sequences together for those that are willing . . . I've already been led through two amazing classes by Elaine and Cheska . . . both of which I would love to use back home, even in my own practice. Such strong students and human beings I'm surrounded by. So blessed.
I'm off to bed, actually somewhat early, hopefully to sleep peacefully
Namaste
