Hari OM Tat Sat = is simultaneously a prayer, a blessing, a profound recognition and celebration of the sacredness of being.
Thanks to god (whatever that means to each individual), thanks for being, thanks for the blessings, I am the god, I am the bliss.
I feel in this moment it would be quite appropriate to shout that out on the highest mountain peak - feeling as though I've received the greatest blessing in being here in India on this incredible journey!
I, along with everyone else here, woke this morning feeling sore, stiff and exhausted. Some might wonder how that is possible after a full day off but when you are working as intensive as we are in all avenues - body, mind and spirit. When you're body stops moving for all intent and purpose, you stiffen and it's quite normal I think to be feeling as drained as we are. In fact, Julia told us just that. Week three is a tough one. I don't think even we realize just how intensive it will be because we'll just be rolling with it.
Regardless of the intensive nature of our day today and the days to come, Hari OM Tat Sat is where I live in this moment.
Self practice went well this morning as far as sequencing goes, however I was unable to jump back into my vinyasas and my hamstring stretches were done often with a microbend in the knees and some moans and groans, my knees were sore so lotus was not possible and because of my low back as well, I did not do bridge. Today I most definitely practiced AHIMSA - non violence on my body taking the modifications where I felt I needed to.
I went for my ritual beach walk this morning, which I felt really necessary to work out my back, and did a little salsa dancing when the music moved me. I love this part of my day. Music in one ear and the sounds of the ocean in the other.
The waves were quite intense this morning as the winds were high, but it was nice because it kept things a bit cooler.
We are starting to delve more deeply into the anatomy of the muscles we use in our postures in our Anatomy and Asana Alignment class, paying attention to the origin and insertion of each muscle group that we use in our practice, as well as when these muscles are contracted or stretched in our postures.
We discussed and practiced on one another methods of bringing a yoga class to a close and sending our students into relaxation. It would be nice to do that every day.
We finished our day with a jump through and jump back workshop with Kranti. He also took requests on more advanced postures we wanted to try. YET ANOTHER posture on my wish list accomplished and a jump back from crow pose to chattaranga dandasana as well.
I also thought I'd just give it a go and see if I could do the 8-angle pose without the blocks (the only one other time I tried it with Alicia during our headstand session), and voila, I just flew up into it. I shocked myself and then shouted out, "Alicia, look! No blocks." She had a "proud teacher" moment then. Here is me on the beach in Astavakrasana.
Tonight after dinner we had candlelight meditation with Upendra. It was quite lovely. We sat on our meditation pillows and used the glow from a candle to meditate on and feel the glow within ourselves. A lovely way to wind down the day.
Hari OM Tat Sat - grateful to be here, grateful for this opportunity and blessing.
